1. What should be the storyline of this article?

RGBSI Aerospace & Defense LLC was established to deliver engineering service excellence in support of Aerospace and Defense client objectives. Since inception in April 2020, we have successfully demonstrated our capabilities of pushing innovation past the tipping point between idea and execution resulting in RGBSI A&D being selected as a trusted advisor for our clients to establish enterprise level strategies across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Our highly qualified team has designed, developed, and delivered a set of enterprise-level tools and services for our Aerospace and Defense clients with Digital Twin & Digital Thread capabilities designed to support a connected future state for optimizing digital engineering, model-based manufacturing and intelligent supply chain strategies. Our Digital Services Platform (RGBSI A&D product) provides the ability to engineer a connected future for our clients.

2. What are some of the trends that you expect to impact Aviation and Aerospace this year and how is RGBSI A&D planning to leverage these trends and evolve?

The growing demand for air travel across the globe post pandemic, is always the right impetus for the aerospace industry to grow at a much faster pace. Some of the other trends that major Aerospace & Space OEMs such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are pushing forward is the commercialization of space exploration with promising first flights underway. Another trend is the autonomous flying taxis establishing new ways of transportation and mobility for individuals. Along the same lines logistics companies has been supporting the research behind drones or smaller self-flying planes to expediate delivery options for consumers. Within Department of Defense there has been similar interest to create Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with weapons to augment future warfare capabilities. The trend also includes the ability to develop alternate fuel / power sources for such vehicles once airborne and don’t have the option to land safely. 

RGBSI A&D has always been at the leading edge of development and application of advanced technologies for our clients. RGBSI A&D leadership holds advanced STEM master’s and doctoral degrees and have extensive research and development experience that enables us to leverage the trends and turn them into meaningful implementations. 

RGBSI A&D for this very purpose has established an Advanced Technologies Lab where our team is constantly working on identifying the applications of advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, micro circuitry, nanotechnologies, and platform-level integration of embedded sensors. 

3. In your interactions with leading company decision-makers, what sense do you get of the challenges they face now in the Aviation and Aerospace space and how is RGBSI effectively addressing these issues?

Although we see some newcomers in the Aviation industry leading this renaissance with new trends some of which are shared above, traditionally, aerospace industry has always lagged behind compared to other industry verticals in its ability to evolve and adopt technology for improved ways to manufacturer products. One of the major challenges the industry faces today is its dependence on manual labor which is made up of baby boomers that are leaving the workforce a very rapid pace creating a huge knowledge gap. It is inevitable that the industry will be required to make strategic investments into technology and its ability to plan for successful adoption. 

RGBSI A&D has been involved with several dozen Fortune 100 companies and their Tier 2,3, and 4 level supply chain within the Defense Industrial Base to provide enterprise level strategics to help position them as market leaders. The tools developed by RGBSI A&D were specifically designed and developed to keep this very idea of advancing companies forward by providing the modern state of the art tools for not only the Fortune 100 companies but their supply chain partners that are mostly Small to Medium Manufacturers. Statistics suggest that that more 75% of the overall manufacturing companies in the United States are Small to Medium Manufactures with fewer than 20 employees.

5. Could you please cite one or two case studies on how you have enabled clients to overcome hurdles and attain desired outcomes with your innovative array of solutions?

One example of our capabilities is where RGBSI A&D has supported our customers’ technological growth and advancement in Robotics to automate their manufacturing environments.  Utilizing our proprietary process of inclusion of advanced robotics, cell optimization, standardization, and downtime elimination, RGBSI A&D has been able to maximize our customers’ return on Investment (ROI), resulting in $1.2 M in savings for one of the largest Aerospace OEM in the United States. RGBSI A&D’s team is recognized as a system solution advisor and a level I integrator, enabling us to consult on unique system and software needs. Our work with deburr, coating, waterjet, and lasers have been recognized by industry leaders, such as ASME, Bloomberg Business Week, and Steam Universe.

Another such example is where RGBSI A&D spearheaded a turnkey engineering, quality, logistics, programming, industrial engineering, and automation effort in collaboration with client stakeholders to enhance the desired performance targets of the new program for a Fortune 100 aerospace OEM. We leveraged our proven advanced manufacturing knowledge and experience to deliver best-in-class engineering solutions that improved yield, reduced scrap, and implemented sustainable cost-saving measures.

Our mutual success with the client on this effort highlights RGBSI A&D’s distinct ability to implement real-world smart factory solutions for our clients that add immediate value through long-term cost-savings and innovative Industry 4.0 technology.

6. There are a number of companies out there that are vying for the top position. What are the strategies employed by RGBSI to thwart the market competition and what according to you are the distinct features of RGBSI differentiating factors that give it a competitive edge?

RGBSI A&D is an SBA-certified Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) with exceptional past performance as a Prime Contractor providing Engineering / Engineering Services, Manufacturing, and Quality services and support for the U.S. Department of Defense and defense industrial base. RGBSI A&D’s ability to consistently deliver contract compliant outcomes while achieving customer-centered objectives on cost and on schedule has earned our team of professionals an exceptional reputation across the Aerospace & Defense industry for consistently delivering best value engineering and engineering services solutions for our customers.

7. What does the future hold for your organization? Any footprint expansion plans or platform enhancement strategies that you can shed light upon?

RGBSI A&D has been growing at a rapid pace and hence been involved in at least two site expansions at our current headquarter in Dayton, OH to date. We are always looking to expand to satisfy strategic partnership interest with our clients as well as serves the best interest of the company. Our tools, applications and services are best in class and have long term strategies to continue to lead the way by introducing new tools and technologies.
